Statement of Thomas LaHue

Candidate for Director Soquel Creek Water District

Occupation: Incumbent, Veterinary Surgeon, Environmental Science Teacher          Age:  54

Education and Qualifications:

I am honored to have been entrusted with the responsibility of protecting our water supply as Vice President of the Soquel Creek Water District for the past 5 ½ years, where I have been able to use my knowledge and experience in coastal water issues to make a positive difference.

Our mission of providing a safe and reliable supply of high quality water is crucial, particularly as we look into the future. My strong background in science and my experience as an employer and business owner provide a balanced perspective.

I served on the State Regional Water Quality Control Board for six years, on the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary Advisory Council during its first four years, and as the founding president of the Santa Cruz Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. I provide a strong voice for protection of water quality and have a reputation for serving with integrity, studying each issue carefully, listening to all sides of an issue, and thoughtfully considering the best choice for the long term.

I am dedicated and always give my best effort, whether in my veterinary practice, in my teaching profession, or in my advocacy for protection of our environment and our water resources.
